Who made the third party publishers and Sony become a dominant team.
As I posted yesterday Nintendo made Sony the gaming hardware giant but who helped them in the software war.
Sony had designed the hardware and then were looking for third party game publishers to help them compete with Nintendo and Sega franchises .
They knocked at tons of doors and no one was interested in the added cost of designing games in 3D they were happy sticking with true and true 2D games. Sony thought it was over before it started. Without the software the hardware would be useless.
Week later a game hits the Arcade that changes everything. SEGA Virtual Fighter. After game publishers see what 3D gaming was about the third party publishers poured into Sony headquarters and the excitement was amazing. Sony now had the software to put with their hardware to make a gaming device that would sell millions and still the largest selection of games and publishers in the business.
Now going full circle the new Virtual Fighter will be a PS3 exclusive.
