Why did Sony go into gaming in the first place?
Hello fellow gamers I thought I would share with you some history that I am finding alot of gamers do not know.
It all comes together at a CES show over 10 years ago. Nintendo ask sony to make a CD disc drive for their game machine. The problem was Sony would have alot of the rights to the disc drive and software. Nintendo turns around a few months before CES and go to Phillips to make the drive for them. CES Sony anounces the team of Nintendo and Sony on a project to offer CD Disc games for its SNES. They actually have 50 prototypes made. Nintendo does their presentation at CES and says we might come up with something but it will be with Phillips. No drive ever comes. Sony is so angry that day they decide to make Sony PSx and decide to make their own game system to get back at Nintendo. The x is dropped and the Sony Playstation is born.
Tomorrow story what game led to Sony finally getting all those third party game makers to jump on the first 3D wagon.
Another gaming giant helps make Sony a competitor in the gaming market.
Hint The current version of this classic 3d game is now a PS3 exclusive.
