TIMESHIFT.. why all the hype?

I played the demo this weekend and I have to say "what's the big deal?" They are putting this game up to the level of F.E.A.R. or Quake 4 and I can't figure out why. The demo will be released to the public sometime today. I think the time shifting is cool but this game should be a budget release game and not a $50.00 game.

This game will bomb like the game Bet on Soldier: Blood Sport who suppossed to be using the new physics card by AGEIA. You can pick that game up for $10.00 now!! I know they will rename this game to Timesh#t when people get done playing the demo:)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. the next DAIKATANA?

Looks like things are not going very well in the camp at GSC. THQ has the unfortunate flashback of what EIDOS went through with ION STORM.

"STALKER always was in the state of general design. It's always been a project which was more spoken of than really done." Another source claims that at the end of November THQ made a decision to stop financing the development and to conduct a thorough revision to gain control over the development process. "We don't care what shape the game will ship in anymore, - said one of the THQ bosses to an IGN journalist, - the game must ship in 2006".

This one is not looking good when they don't care the shape of the game. Means that it will likely ship broken and be just another P.O.S.

GEARS OF WAR confirmed for PC

Just wanted to give an fyi that Gears Of War is indeed making its way to PC. The game will be ported after it comes out for the XBOX360. It has not been confirmed but possible bonus content will be on the PC version that is not on the XBOX 360 version.

Condemend: Criminal Origins is it CONDEMEND for PC??

Just saw some screenshots for this game and they have me scratching my head. What would make SEGA release these pictures to "showcase" your port to PC? This game was a must buy in my book, but now I will wait for a demo to see if they just rushed this to PC. I STILL have an open mind because we really have no idea what type of system they took these pictures on. These could have been taken from a PC running a MX 440 card or better yet.. my old Compaq computer with a Voodoo 3500 card:)

Do finished games find their way back on your Hardrive?

Hello Fellow gamers,

Just got done installing Max Payne. I liked the second one so much that I decided to get the first one and knock that one out as well. But there is a game that seems to always find its way back to my Hardrive. That game is Unreal 2: The Awakening! I still love the graphics, killing the Skarrj, and having Aida around to "explore" is still fun! Some of the "one liners" are by far the funniest in any game period. I am still really saddened that Legend Entertainment is no more:(

I wasn't even a noob in PC gaming when the first Unreal came out so I never played it. I remember DeathofU showing me the beginning (to all our readers Deathofu is my brother) and he was going through it like it was nothing. What games do you play when you are just "relaxing" waiting for a new one?

Retro Review: THE SUFFERING

Hello Fellow Torques,

They have said for years that "first impressions" are the most important and with The Suffering that would be killing, more killing, and the word that rhymes with "Duck":) This game is the reason that parents are on developers, this game will make you feel dirty and is not for the faint of heart.

Surreal Software throws everything at you to almost perfection. The ambient noises are perfect, story is interesting, the swearing is Ducking awesome, and the monsters are a mix between your nightmares and a hellspawn place. When all Hell breaks lose in the prison (which takes all but a cutscene) and you come up to someone who has lost whatever sanity they had left your conscience's speaks to you. One voice would say "help him, he needs you" and the other voice "DUCKING KILL THAT WEAK DUCK" you really can't get any better than that now can ya?

Pros
1. The mood is perfect for killing "Killing is my business and business is good"
2. Story is very interesting (multiple endings that you decide your fate)
3. Never had to kill myself before in a game? (sorry about the little spoiler.. or is it?)
4. The game brings a new meaning of "bring out the beast inside of you"
5. Voice acting is done nicely
6. Graphics are "gritty" to fit the mood of the game
7. Torque is one bad MotherDucker
8. Killing bosses or exploring new areas opens up an archive book that gives you more of the story surrounding The Suffering.
9. This ducking game scared me big time in a couple of spots that even freaked me out so bad that I slipped off the mouse:) really it was that good!!
10. Puzzles are very logical and doesn't distract the action at all
11. All of the Boss fights were cool
12. Unique creatures
13. Finally, a title for a game that describes the game perfectly

Cons
1. I wish there were more creatures throughout the game.
2. After fighting the same enemies you get to know their pattern and they become easy to kill

ATI is "King Of the Hill" until NVIDIA'S new offering!

Just wanted you to know that the X1900XT is champion for the time being. This card is beating up on the 7800GTX512 like a red headed step child. Nvidia knows what they have to do to be king again and I am very confident that us Nvidiots will take it back shortly. I feel the most important factor of this "graphic war" is that the price for ATI's card is only $649.00 when the 512GTX is going for around $850.00. Will Nvidia lower the price of their card to be competive? Can you even get one anymore??

PREY Impressions from ATTACK OF THE SHOW

Just got done watching "Attack of the Show" which it really is amazing what I will sit through to get a glimpse of this game! The guy named Wil O'neal that is on the show now was the tech guy for the magazine CGW, and everyone hated this guy with a passion. I hope G4 comes up with something instead of STAR TREK reruns and get back to the games!! Now enough of my opinion on the show how about the most important thing.... PREY

This is by far the game that I can't wait to get my hands on! AMD has visited Human Head studios to help optimize the game. I assume since they are using a hybrid of the Doom 3 and Quake 4 engine that it will be dual core. Sometime during this week they are going to show a demo for the game.

QA testers who are playing the "MultiPreyer" said it takes awhile to get used to people "wall walking" and the portals. I am really looking forward to something new to deathmatching myself to be honest!! Not only are you going to need awesome accuracy, but you will definitely have to be a superhuman "twitch fragger".

Demonik's future is not looking good

It looks like Majesco is hurting in a big way. They have put Demonik in hibernation and will only be publishing hand held games in the future. I am really bummed about Demonik being cancelled because it was going to be using Terminal Reality's engine as well as having the mind of Clive Barker in the corner!


Hopefully someone else will pick up the publishing rights!

LORD NATAS On Save Game Features.. Anytime..Anyplace..WHY NOT??!!

Hello Fellowgamers,

Having no "anytime" saves really annoy me big time! Hey developers "I have given you my money let me save the game anytime, anyplace, will ya!" Now there are some games that didn't have this feature but they save often so it didn't effect the experience, but the following are guilty as charged!
1. FarCry - this game is already hard and I can't save? "ooooh you Bastards"
2. Serious Sam 2 - this one is uninstalled because I hate repeating areas over and over
3. The Thing - got close to the end and then got so frustrated I let the Thing win!!
4. XIII- this game has "quick save" in the menu but it doesn't work.. cya

TOP REASONS WHY WE SHOULD HAVE QUICKSAVES
1. The game is buggy and crashes to the desktop (it's not my fault)
2. Do you really feel like exploring when all you have in your mind is "gotta find save point, gotta find save point"?
3. Something comes up or you get a phone call and you can't stop
4. I paid the money.. give me want I want

Anyone else feel the way that I do? Have I given you a flashback of a game that made you feel this way?

Retro Review: MAX PAYNE 2: THE FALL OF MAX PAYNE

I just got done with the game and I tell you what... This is one excellent game! I know this statement isn't fair to this game since this game was out way before the movie but this game reminds me a lot of SIN CITY. In case some of our readers haven't seen this movie, it is without a doubt the best comic book to movie translation period!! It is even better than Batman Begins (which is great itself). The story in this game makes you feel like you are part of the SIN that is happening in the CITY. I am not a real fan of "bullet time" but I really enjoyed it in this game. If I am correct this was the game that brought it to life and now I see why everyone wanted to copy them. The only game that I feel that has achieved this status was the game F.E.A.R. that came out last year.

If you haven't played this game you owe it to yourself to pick this one up! Not only is this game worth the $10.00 I paid, but I would've gladly paid the $50.00 for this one.

Pros
1. Story is excellent (the passion of the writer is very apparent)
2. Music score is awesome (the cello playing just gave me the chills)
3. Vinnie in the "Clown suit", guy booked for murder of his wife and lover in police office(ROFL)
4. Comic strip look was done excellent
5. I had feelings for the characters
6. Bullet Time was a lot of fun (especially when the hour glass was yellow)
7. Like the ending credits
8. Having the prologue about the first Max Payne was really nice


Cons
1. Game is short (could easily be done in one sitting)
2. Bullet Time (Open door hit BT.. Kill everything that moves)
3. Where is Max now?? Is ALAN WAKE the man????

There are so many games coming out how could we possibly be able to do all of them? I hinted a couple posts ago that I was doing a game that I never got around to playing due to either being so busy or was just playing something else at the time. I am quite confident that I am not the only person this happens to so I will be reviewing games from the past as well.

The story behind me getting this game was that DeathofU, Ron-T, and I had to go to FRY's Electronics to pick up a new Motherboard to put in my Alienware and the game was just $10.00 so I picked it up. The game I picked up was MAX PAYNE 2: THE FALL OF MAX PAYNE .

I just want all of the readers out there to know that I rate games (new or old) by MY EXPERIENCES ONLY not from somebody else's. I will let you know later on today what I thought about the game!!

High-Voltage software gets Zapped on Friday the 13th.

I guess I spoke a little to soon about having a good Friday the 13th in the gaming news department. High-Voltage has laid off roughly half of their employees. One major reason was due to Vivendi Universal not paying them for one of their projects which in turn crippled the company's finances. High-Voltage was known for making the Hunter series as well as Leisure Suit Larry : Magna Cum Laude. One artist who works in the music department used to be in my band awhile ago. I hope that he wasn't one of them, but if so I am very confident that he wouldn't be out of work for long because he is a very talented musician.

PS3 Price????????????

While most game industry insiders expect the PS3 to retail for about US$499 at launch, the range of opinions was much larger. Prices have been as low as the Xbox 360's price of $399, or as high as $699! It is important to note that a stand alone Blu-Ray player was unveiled for a price of $1,800 at the recent CES. Lets hope it is the $399 so we have some money left for some blu ray movies and games.

Nintendo DS Wifi by DeathofU

Fellow gamers i have to say the easiest wifi game I have ever played in my life has to be mario kart ds. After you have done the initial wifi setup that is very easy to do with the manual that is included in each wifi enabled game you are set to go and no new configuration is required for that wifi spot. I put mario kart into my DS and then clicked multiplayer and nintendo wfc. It found me 3 more players from all around the world in less than a minute. We decide which track and we are on the way in less than 2 minutes. It is great and I see why since the wifi option DS is selling like crazy.

Now the downside of the wifi is like animal crossing WW for DS. My wife was hoping for
a central WiFi world to play on but you have to get friend codes from people then they have to put your friend code in to visit towns. They must have their unit on and gate open for you to enter their town. I understand the reason for this is you don't want the town to be ravaged but nintendo could have made a virtual town that multiple people
could visit. I hope this is implemented in Animal Crossing Revolution that is already
in production.

Stubbs The Zombie "Rebel Without a Pulse" review

Hello fellow Zombies,

First off I would like to say that this is by far one of the most original games to come out in a long time. To take the zombie/human concept and reverse the roles was a great idea. The only problem with the game is by the time you get to the end you have seen and heard everything which makes it lose the magic it had in the beginning. The only reason you will keep going on is to see how the story unfolds, which by the way was perfect for the games atmosphere!

Stubb's is using the Halo engine which to my surprise came out well for the game. There are some spots of the game when your driving vehicles that you will start having flashbacks of being in a ghost or warthog running over some MASTER CHIEFS but so what it was still fun:) The audio and soundtrack are really nicely done and the barber shop guys singing how they are going to kill me was hilarious!! I really recommend you picking up the game and supporting a game developer that really took chances on making something new and was successful in doing so!

Positives
1. Voice acting and soundtrack are top notch for this game
2. Stubbs is really cool looking (let him stand still for awhile and watch)
3. Going through a cornfield and eating brains (tell me that's been done before)
4. Originality at its finest
5. Story is perfect for the "B" movies of the 50's

Negatives
1. Starts beating a "Dead Zombie" after awhile
2. No replay value... when your done your done
3. Should've given the soundtrack for free (the bands did and excellent job on the old songs)

Star Wars Empire At War Demo in 4 days!!

I can't wait to try out this game. I am not the best RTS player in the world (I actually killed my undead players in WarCraft 3 by myself) but I am ready to try to get my skills up on this one! Let me know what you hardcore RTS players think about this one!!!

Star Wars Galaxies: S.O.E and loyal players Divided

Lately it seems that this is the biggest news that is going on lately so here is my view on this game that has had more changes to it than any other MMO out there. I will start out this by saying that I am a true "geek Jedi" and love all Star Wars movies and YES even the prequels (except Jar-Jar). Everyone that says George Lucas can't direct go ahead and make your own movie and see if it sells 50 million in one night like Revenge Of The Sith, or for that matter have almost all of your movies in the top 20 sellers of all time list!

S.O.E. needs to wake up and smell the coffee now! You don't alienate your loyal fan base by promising with the Trials Of ObiWan expansion more class enhancements and then strip them all away but nine of them. They changed the whole system into something that is between a fps and a diablo clone and never informed the players at all what they were doing. You know the changes took more than a weekend to do so why not confess that you don't care about your players? I did the 10 day trial and overall it was fun because it was free for me to play. Reasons why I wouldn't pay the fifteen dollar monthly fee are as follows:
1. Game is broken (Jedi are stronger with a blaster than with a melee weapon)
2. Server crashed multiple times on me then I couldn't log back on
3. Why start getting into a game that everyone is abandoning like a bad habit
4. I can't see this game making it this year (The force is weak Luke)
5. History states that If you start liking this game and become level 80 who is to say that S.O.E. won't nerf it on you like they did to their loyal fanbase?

LORD NATAS'S EASY FIX FOR THIS GAME (S.O.E. this advice is free of charge)
Make the game free to play and get money from advertisements in the game. Use the Star Wars environments to sell Star Wars property because it would match perfectly in this game. Sell expansions or extra content to also get more revenue.When a game is in its 3rd year BETA it is easier to swallow knowing that I am not paying for it!
S.O.E. if you don't make the game free may the "FORCE BE WITH YOU" because you will need it!

Condemned: Criminal Origins coming to PC

Hey fellowgamers,
I thought that Friday the 13th was suppose to be bad luck? This is the best gaming news day that I can remember. Monolith is doing an awesome job with their new engine that they used on F.E.A.R and can easily be seen in this game! Most of the reviews for the game Condemned say that it is a short game so maybe they will add a little more to the game than just porting it over.

We will be grabing our pipe wrenches soon on the PC.

Gears Of War Demo coming soon to XBOX 360

I really have to say that I am really shocked that they are going to be doing this. Hey, don't get me wrong I think it is cool but now it makes me regret selling my XBOX 360. They have released some more pictures of the game and what is really crazy is that people don't think it looks as good as it did when it was first announced. I remember seeing the demonstration of the Unreal 3 engine and I was very impressed to see what Epic has done. Cliffy B. just needs to bring this out on the PC where it really belongs!

KOTOR 3 in Development

IGN has some information regarding that KOTOR 3 is in developement and will be released either late 2006 or early 2007. Obsidian who also did KOTOR 2 is got the game in their hands! No word is out yet which platform it will come out on first, but I hope the PC gets it first. Obsidian is going to have the fighting in "real time" which could be cool but I really didn't mind the other way either. Looks like LORD NATAS the Dark Lord of the Sith will rise again!!!

Looking for a Diablo rush? TitanQuest will do the trick!

TitanQuest is really looking good and I am really looking forward to getting my "hacking and slashing" done with this one. It is to be released sometime in June. In another note the magazine PC Gamer is stating that next month you will need to invest in some depends because they have a "world-exclusive announcement that is so big, so juicy, and so unbelievably, mind-blowingly fun that you're probably going to wet yourself upon seeing the cover".

My guess is that it is DIABLO 3!

AMD unleashes the FX60

Finally the Athlon 64 FX60 is out! I am hoping that it will bring the other CPU's prices down since this one is "King of the Hill". Retail price is only $1031.00 so if one of you just don't know what to do with your money you got from Xmas buy one for me as well:)

System Shock 3 in development?

Just read that System Shock 3 might be in development! Everyone has told me how awesome System Shock 2 was but unfortunately for me I was not playing PC games at the time and now you can't run the game in Windows XP. I hope they do bring out this game using the Doom 3 engine!!!!

I am really looking forward to this title and it is nice to see that they are going to be "serious" about the multiplay. Punkbuster is a really good system that keeps the deathmatching honest:)

King Kong game better than the movie

Hello gamers,

Finally got to see the King Kong movie and compared to the game I would say the game is a lot better. Naomi Watts would've made Fay Wray proud but Jack Black is no Carl Denham. There were parts of the movie that was just incredible and then others that seemed they were just thrown in to make the movie 3 hours.

It is the first time that I can remember when a game comes out better than the movie. Pick the game up and play but just make sure you have a gamepad for playing as Kong or your mouse fingers will be dead forever!
