I thought that I would just post what I have been playing so you know what reviews to expect. I got HitMan 2: Silent Assasin and Project SnowBlind that are on my mind right now! Project SnowBlind reminds me so much of Deus Ex: Invisible War that I had to pick it up for the "memories" of that title! I have never played HitMan before in my life and it is really a blast even though my personality does not match well with stealth:)

QuakeCon: might be moving to a city near you?

Hello Fellow Quakers,
Here is a very interesting statement from Todd H. who is C.E.O. of id software. Thanks to WorthPlaying for the quote!
TH: Marty Statton (id Software Director of Business Development) is working hard on that right now. We're almost certain that the venue for QuakeCon 2006 will change, which presents us with a bunch of challenges. Some of what we can do is always subject to the constraints of the venue for the event and until all of that is finalized, it's really tough to make definite plans. The sponsors are enthusiastic, and I know the fans are looking forward to it, so we have some ideas about making QC06 a special one by building on everything that worked well last year and mixing in some new stuff, too. Of course the LAN party and tournament will be the focus of the event, but as anyone who's been to QuakeCon can attest, there's more to it than that. There's still a possibility we may move QuakeCon outside of Texas (!) for this year. And before I get crushed by email, even if it's not in Dallas, it will stay in the U.S.

Currently the estimated cost between PS3 and XBOX 360

Hope PS3 dont start cutting features to save on cost. There has been rumors of elimination of the Hard Drive and other features. I hope they do not take that path. I recommend to elminate 2 1080 p outputs. One should be sufficient for most of us.

Quake 4 beta patch 1.1 is out now!!!

Bill Gates is not starving yet. He is still making out with accesories. The Xbox 360 controllers that retail for $39.99 cost $11 to make. Thank goodness I thought will was going to have to stop eating surf and turf and go to bologna.

Met a young man at a local restaurant that was playing a PSP while being out. Have not seen that much, have you. Micheal 9 years old told me he likes the size of the unit,the graphics are great and the sound was fine. He has never bought a UMD movie ,not happy with battery life and his favorite game are street fighter,tony hawk and starwars. I did notice he had the cover that bolts to PSP and have to unscrew it to get the UMD out. That could have been thought through better.

Sony says delay of PS3 rumors are crap and that will release in spring 2006. Is that spring in Hawaii and winter everywhere else.

PS3 games will be able to be downloaded to your system via the HUB(sony online system name at the moment). The cost will be cheaper than the price at the store. Oh no get rid of your game store stocks because Microsoft is working on the same thing. Get rid of the middle man and have more control.

New PSP coming out with 8GB Nand memory. Looks like I will be getting my PSP. The performance is going to be amazing. Now all they need is more original games.

God of War 2 will be on PS2 next Feb. There is also plans of a PS3 and PSP version and a movie based on the game.

Pay to play. Fight Night 3 online is a pay to play game or you have to let ESPN sponsorship send you advertising in your email. Also ESPN can sell your info to anybody. Me and Lord Natas have notice this first picking up TW 2006. Either $2 give a credit card or get advertising and ESPN pays. Do not like how this is going.

A Direct TV blade could be added to Xbox live. A scan of the March 2006 issue of Official Xbox Magazine reveals "that a DirecTV blade might be added to your Xbox 360 Dashboard to accompany the Xbox Live, Games, Media, and System blades. In that blade, you could download TV episodes in high definition, HD movies on demand, and standard-definition streaming DVR (i.e., TiVo) functions."
Watch out Comcast and TV advertisers this is the start of IP TV. Watching what you want when you want.

Hold on to your hats the Xbox 360 camera is coming. I am confused by this because I
play a ton of poker games on PS2. You would think that would be great use of the camera on a game. No one uses the camera. Why because it makes the game lag. Well see if Xbox fixes this problem or there will be a stack of them on the shelves.

Retro Review: MAX PAYNE

Hello Fellow Payners,

I picked this game up because I loved the second one so much that I wanted to knock the first one out! I really enjoyed playing this game and can really see how it was really first of its kind. I think that even with the graphics not up to today standards it is still really enjoyable and you owe it to yourself to play it yourself! I picked it up at CompUsa for $5.00 and roughly was 7-8 hour long game. That is what I call a deal!! In my review of Max Payne 2 I asked the question "is Alan Wake the new Payne?" and the answer is no! Max Payne 3 is in the works and I will pick that baby up as soon as it comes out:)

Pros
1. Story is excellent and keeps you in the game
2. I love the soundtrack of the game
3. Just like Payne 2 the passion comes off well from the developers
4. Bullet time was fun even back then
5. I loved the occult crazy guy in the game
6. Graphics are still ok for today standards
7. Remedy did a really nice job on this game!!
8. THE GAME IS $5.00 PICK IT UP WILL YA'S

Cons
1. Max looks like he needs to go to the bathroom in a real hard way:)
2. Some people might be turned off by the dream and drug sequences
3. It eventually ends.. and I have to wait now for the third installment

RAVEN, PLEASE DON'T KILL QUAKE 4! back to UT2004 I go!!!!!!

It saddens me to report that my Quake 4 is dying a slow death. The servers are already bare and have lost at least 500 of them so far. I never in a million years thought this would happen with the cult following that Quake has. I guess it shows that you need to take care of your players or the players will take care of you! I still play Quake 3 and it has more servers going than the new game!


DeathofU and I got together and we wanted to play something different so we played some Painkiller, and even UT99 when he said a magical statement... "Why did we ever stop playing this game??" and then it hit me like a ton of bricks! I loaded UT2004 and I have a new love for this game and am really looking forward to UT2007. Gamers, put it back on and let us frag!! Here are the things that Epic has done right and Raven has done wrong.

1. Quake 4 requires at least cable modem but has more lag than a bunch of 56k guys in UT
2. Get rid of the 60fps cap Unreal runs so smooth it is UNREAL
3. Give me stats that remain so I can see my progress
4. AUTO DOWNLOAD.. MAN DO I MISS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. The firing rate on the weapons on Quake 4 has hesitation and it shouldn't be there
6. Look at the MOD community for Unreal as the announcer says when you deck the settings "HOLY SHIT"
7. The buddy list actually works on UT2004
8. BOTS.. WHERE ARE THE BOTS?????? Raven, people like to at least practice before getting their asses handed to them!

I had to add my 2 cents to this post. I had told Lord Natas that I was disappointed with Quake IV and that it needed a major patch. I have to say I found it one of the most boring games because there is not enough new maps and changes. I was thinking I was at my end for first person shooters. This week I loaded UT 2004 and played 2 hours straight and my heart was pounding by the speed. 2 hours is a miracle as Lord Natas would tell you and I could have played more. My interest kept up because at vote time at this server they had 100 maps to vote on. The speed and action of UT 2004 is amazing. They had voice chat and additional mods. The maps and mods loaded in under a minute.I will have to say at this moment Quake IV was a waste of my money. If a patch for it does not come out soon and makes a big improvement I will be uninstalling it. God what a difference from Quake III to Quake IV. Lord Natas you hit this one right on target. Maybe quakecon should be change to unrealcon.:)

IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF THE END??

EA has announced that they are cutting their prices for their games to help with the sagging sales. Black and Godfather will be $40.00 instead of the "normal" $50.00. In my opinion I feel this could be the start of the gaming crash that happened in the 80's. The market is so saturated with games that the economy can't support this for long and price reduction is a smart move for EA as well as for other publishers. Here are my reasons for studios to take notice:

1. Why pay extra for the same game for your Xbox 360 with no difference in gameplay
2. Sequels are killing the community with boredom "been there done that"
3. Why have your games come out during the holidays.. spread it out through the year how many games can we play in 2 weeks anyway??
4. A gamer can not take chances on other games that they would like to try due to price BRING OUT DEMOS
5. Having to pay over a $150.00 a year to play World Of Warcraft you must play that one only dont ya??

MERRILL LYNCH SAYS NO PS3 THIS YEAR

Piracy concerns and a cost of upwards of $900 per machine will possibly end the chance of us playing a PS3 this year. Analysis have found that the cost of each machine would
drop $600 in just 2 years. PS3 is definitely going to be a machine you are not going to want to jump on the band wagon right away. I feel that the slow 2 x blu ray drive that will cause slow load times and the possibility of eliminating a hard drive to lower cost and add it ass an add on are signs that you should wait a year or so after release. At this amount of time there will be the DMCA certified
televisions so you can actually watch the blu-ray in full definition ,decent choice of games and blu-ray movies(if hd dvd hasn't won by then,and trust me a hard drive and faster blu-ray drive will be added to the machine. The generation machines like the Xbox 360 are starting to show me more than ever wait a year or more and you will be rewarded with alot better system and decent software choices.

Why is Nintendo DS beating PSP

How can Nintendo DS be beating a PSP. PSP is a mp3 player,movie player,a hackers dream,a tv remote yes there is a program to make it a tv remote,a pda (program out ther),ebook reader,and plays old school home brew games and much more. Nintendo DS is a game machine with half the graphics or less. I have the answer for your guys. PSP 95% of games our ports of PS2. We are playing the same crap. Go look at the shelves of the local store and see all the PSP games on PS2. The other reason is that the media UMD is failing. Many studios cutting down on UMD releases in the future. Studios include Sony Pictures (??), Paramount and Warner. The studios are saying that the UMD is a failing because the amount of piracy happening. I like to think it is failing because it is a bad proprietary media format. Sony is so desperate that they are going to add UMD to DVD movies as packages to try saving this media. The problem is the price is going to be $25 for the package. UMD is dead. Nintendo with their portables have always known the trick. Games that are original and can play at short spurts. The online part of the DS as I have spoken before is amazing. One time setup of your DS for wifi and you can play Mario Kart with others around the world in 5 min. Oops Mario Kart is a port but one thing that is a big difference is the online is added to make it a new game. Play super mario 64 and Super Mario DS. Trust me the DS game is a total different game and 3 times harder at least. Nintendo has a port they still make it different. DS wins the battle not by power and options but original software and adding features when it is a port. Nintendo needs to look at this fact when they release their console. I have seen the list of games that they are releasing first and I think this could really hurt them by not learning by what they have accomplished with their portables.Original games Nintendo! We don't need another smash bros or donkey kong game.

Review: Tiger Woods 2006

Hello Fellow Duffers,
Golfing games played a major part in me leaving the consoles and moving to PC. Links and Tiger Woods were champions that could not be touched. Then it seemed that every year was an "expansion" that would cost ya $40.00. After DeathofU reported that all of the 06 titles are $20.00 we said lets give it a shot!

I am extremely happy with the graphical upgrade. I am running it totally decked out and it looks amazing. This game is really challenging when you go to advance mode. I am still struggling with accurate shots which really makes me feel like it is real golf where practice makes perfect. DeathofU and I played match play at Pebble Beach and needless to say he "Pwned my ass" it was 10-8 and he played very well. Setting up the online was simple and it seems that a lot of people play this game. I forgot to put a password on and I guy came in my lobby in seconds and was ready to play. The game is making my winter go faster and soon I will be taking divots for real sometime soon.

Pros
1. Graphics look awesome, the different shades on the greens are top notch.
2. The ambient sounds are top notch and really add a nice touch
3. This is such a challenging game you will think your playing for real!
4. Online is easy to setup and people are really playing this game
5. I was able to setup my character with the Callaway set that I use in real life

Cons
1. It would be really nice to have a direct IP link option instead of going through EA.
2. I want to throw my clubs but I can't:(

This is going to be a very big year for our rights as home pc users. DMCA Digital Millenium Copyright is coming to our PC hardware and software. See that nice new monitor you have. If you want your games movies to display in HD with your HD drive and you do not get a PVP-OPM supported monitor you will not have HD under Windows Vista. PVP-OPM: Protected Video Path Output Protection Management. Downgrades video resolution or blocks the picture entirely if the connected display doesn't support content protection. The days of making a backup of your movies are over with the new system PVP-UAB: Protected Video Path User-Accessible Bus. Encrypts video content as it passes over the PCI Express bus from the high-def disc to prevent other PCI Express devices from intercepting the video stream.Think you could avoid this expense by sticking with XP? No such luck. To see HD, you'll have to upgrade to Windows Vista as well; Windows XP's security and driver models lack the ability to support HDCP. Consumers intent on viewing HD discs via their PCs will have little choice but to spring for the new operating system in addition to an HDCP-compliant monitor.

Now this is not stopping on your PC . Have your heard that all TV will have to be digital by 2009. Do you know why???? HDCP and DMCA. Want to record a movie it will have to pass HDCP and ect. I am suprised that PS3 blu-ray is getting away with passing the DMCA or do we know that part yet. I have heard rumor that the blu-ray movies on your PS3 will be automatically downgraded on analog.Hollywood wins again. Want to record 1080i HD signals? Well, screw you! Hollywood has negotiated a deal whereby hardware manufacturers are required to down-convert the analog output in next gen players. "analog signal must be down-converted from the full 1920x1080 lines of resolution the players are capable of outputting to 960x540 lines". So we will not see the full next gen hd movies in our home till our sets our digital and DMCA capable. Do you see how scary this is getting. I felt I had to give my 2 cents after this Halo 2 announcement by microsoft and I totally agree with Lord Natas on his comment about it. We are losing freedoms every day in this country and no one is bitching about it. Why? I am scared of the future of this country if this continues on this path. I have a friend for along time that since 1988 does not use credit cards,do rebates,sign up for anything on the net,not get grocery discount cards and anything that would give out his info because big brother is watching. Me and the guys would laugh at him about this. I'm not laughing anymore!

In case people don't know Hollywood has been losing their ass for years and they can't afford us Americans to just see the movies at home. A perfect example was when DeathofU and I went to watch the Doom movie and there was a kid that couldn't of been more than 2 years old crying through the whole movie!! Why sit at a movie theater when my home theater system blows the hell out of any theater out there? The video game industry is taking over just like downloading the music is taking it to the record labels! The movie industry is in panic mode and no one can stop the "wind of Change"!!

Halo 2 + Windows Vista = B.S.

Everyone knows that if you adopt a new operating system first that you end up being beta testers right? Hey, if someone out there is going to do this just to play this game send me an e-mail cause I got some land I bought from the Covenant that I want to sell ya:)

Retro Review: The Suffering: Ties That Bind

Hello Fellow Torques,
I have to start this review stating that I had a very weird experience with this game! I played the demo after I finished the first game and I really noticed the difference of quality between the two so I decided to go out and get the second game to see how the story of Torque pans out. As stated before.. when it comes to MY reviews they are based on MY experiences only and no one else's!

This game was really a missed opportunity for Surreal Software. The game for some reason would stutter anytime I would use a shotgun or morph into my true self. I did not have this issue with the demo of this game and my system specs are way beyond the specs needed. I lowered the resolution to 800x600 took off shadows, AF, AA disabled and it still acted the same way. It would stutter so bad that I bet I was getting 4FPS and that is no joke! So if I was going to SUFFER then I will just keep the baby decked out! I kept playing this game even with this glitch because the story was really good and I wanted to see how it all ends up. Then the weird experience happened.

I got to chapter 14 and all of the sudden the game ran like a true champion I have no idea what happened or what, but it was just awesome to see it running the way that it should've been from the start! It never glitched again and I only wish that it was this way throughout the game but unfortunately for me it was not to be. After I finished the game I thought I would load an old game to see if the glitch was gone and sad to say it was still there in the early chapters. I would still recommend the game since you can pick it up for $20.00 and the story was worth it!

PROS
1. The new characters kept it fresh even with the old ones there as well
2. The voice acting was nicer this time around
3. I love the theme to the game
4. The menu has a real cool "burning through the film effect"
5. The dark theme of the story was really great!
6. Depending if you were good or evil made your inner self have different abilities

Cons
1. The glitch annoyed me and it really made me SUFFER
2. The one character that I really wanted to fight I didn't (Creeper)
3. Since some of the characters could only be killed by your "true self" you had to keep killing the weak ones to get your insanity meter up to transform.
4. DID I MENTION THE GLITCH THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE PASSED THROUGH Q.A.?????

Rumors are 2 prices for PS3

Sony are going with a two different price models just like the Xbox 360. Two versions of PS3 our coming out . A $399.99 version just games and a $599.99 version for the full system with blu-ray movies.

Xbox what are you doing

I have to say that I am confused with Microsoft and their Xbox 360 release. This is a golden opportunity for Microsoft to get ahead of the next generation sytem and they are blowing it big time. Are you tired of seeing these signs (some are even faded)and looking at the choice of games that have barely changed since release. Microsoft I am going to tell you a couple tricks I learned in being in business management for over 18 years.
1. Get as many consumers to buy your product during that first hype month.
2. Get as much product as possible out to the consumers before your competition hits the shelves.
3. People will get tired of asking for your product and wait for the competitor.
4. Frustration can make people not buy anything from your company again.
5. Send product to people that are actually interested in buying.Japan you still have tons of product still sitting on shelves.

EA has layed off 5% of their workforce (300 people) and losing money. Now they are dumping the PC sports games 06 for 19.99 to stop the bleeding. Wow if EA can't make a profit what is the US economy coming too.

Retro Review: STILL LIFE

Hello Fellow Gamers,

It has been a long time since I have done a game like this. I really enjoyed this game overall but some of the puzzles where really over my head. I know that most adventure games age doesn't matter, but this game is definitely not for "little Tommy". If you love adventure games you should pick this one up!

Pros

1. Story is very interesting from the start
2. Classic moments such as having to get fingerprints and seeing a porn mag and her reply was " I need fingerprints not semen samples"
3. I felt the graphics fit the game nicely.
4. Music was done nicely, nothing like hearing Mozart's Requiem playing as the killer is ready to take another victim!
5. CSI fans will like some of the puzzles
6. I really liked playing two different characters from different eras

Cons

1. Some puzzles are very difficult and you will need a walkthrough or a PHD
2. What a cliffhanger for an ending

Bungie bringing Halo 2 to the PC

Hello fellow MasterChiefs,

I have to say that I was dissapointed in Halo 2. The graphic glitches were a joke and in the whole game I really felt like I did it all in the first one. The city part was really cool but could someone please tell me what the hell kind of ending is that? Now I am a guy who finished the first game a total of 8 times, twice on Legendary and spent my life on the Deathmatching. Here are my reasons for being happy about this coming out to PC.

1. That means you can finally play the Multiplayer like it really should be with a mouse and keyboard.

2. I will not be buying an XBOX 360, I know now that Halo 3 will eventually come out on PC and will be far superior looking! It is worth the wait to have it in the best form.

What will the PS3 be able to do other than games and HD movies?
Rumors are
* The PS3 will have an online service that surpasses Xbox Live

* PS3 will be your replacement Tivo, yes it will have the capability of being a DVR

* There are many more games being developed in the United States then previously thought

* The PS3 Final Dev kit is faster then expected

* Includes a download service similar to iTunes from which you can download movies, music, etc. (mark my words; it will be called Sony Connect).

* Media Center capabilities will be a step above that of the 360

* The PS3 will serve as a Location Free Player for the Playstation Portable. This means that you will be able to watch DVD's and Blu-ray's as well as downloaded videos inside your PS3 on your PSP remotely via the internet

* the PSP will be able to control thePlaystation 3's DVR functions as well as send files to and from the PS3

* Firmware updates will add new functionality, very similar to the PSP

* Developers are being told to prep for a fall release of the PS3, and it is expected that the online service will launch at the same time

Castle Wolfenstein will use new engine from John "God" Carmack

Hello Fellow gamers,

Just wanted to give ya a fyi that this game will be using a new engine instead of the Doom 3 engine! John has been working on the engine since Doom 3 was getting close to release. This is the first I have ever heard of a new engine from him in such a short time, look how long Quake 3 has been around!!

I am really excited to see the new magic from this RocketBoy:)
