Retro Review: Soldier Of Fortune 2

Hello fellow Mullins,
Well after all these years I loaded this baby up and actually went through the single player game. This was Cozeman's favorite Multiplayer game for a long time but now since he's putting roughly 45 hours a week in Guild Wars you can say he doesn't play anymore. It is amazing to me that this game worked just perfect on Vista but Quake 4 doesn't?? Well, enough of that on with the review..

I picked this game up when it came out for one thing and one thing only. The violence is by far the most I have seen in a long time. Yeah, ManHunt had violence and so did The Suffering but this is another level. When you use a shotgun you can shoot someone's face right off and hearing the "gurgling" of them chocking on their own blood puts a little smile on my morbid face. I really enjoyed the story and most of the missions were a lot of fun to accomplish but one mission was just way too long and was very tedious. This one particular mission made me feel like I was at work and that never feels good now does it? If you noticed an earlier post that they are making another S.O.F. and it should be out this year. I hope they keep the violence up to this level and that they have John Mullins as a consultant for the game as well. If you are not aware Mr. Mullins was a true Soldier Of Fortune and is one deadly person to deal with. I recommend this game but don't let your little kids play this one:)

Pros

1. Story was good but a little cliche
2. Graphics are ok but were amazing in 2002
3. Audio is really top notch (blood splatter never gets old)
4. Missions are fun (except Mission 7)
5. Killing is Mullins' business and business is good!
6. This game is extremely violent. How many games you know have a violence meter on them?
7. Shooting guys from a helicopter was really fun.
8. Crawling through a war zone was different...
9. Nice wanted poster of the real John Mullins and Raven's patronage to Doom was neat!

Cons
1. Mission 7 started out great but it lost steam halfway through. You should stick with the game because it gets back being great after it though!
2. The A.I. was not very impressive in this game. If you move forward and go back and hide they will come for ya and then just blow their head off!
3. I wanted to kill this guy by my action not by a cutscene...
