Dudes, Medusa owns a Dell!! Dual Core what the hell??

Hello fellow gamers,
My wife needed a new computer so I decided to get her a Dell for her birthday. Her "tag" name is Medusa by the way:) Earlier today I got home and hooked up with a couple of my friends to play Killing Floor 2.0 a UT2004 mod which is really cool! Then I got the Q-4 itch and hooked up with Almost Human to play a couple of maps that really ended up being a couple of hours!! We couldn't hook up with each other since both of us were missing files from each other and then I thought.. why not just use this new Dell as a server and see how it goes? this thing has a dual core 2.6 processor and a 128 meg ATI card so why not give it a shot. I loaded up Quake 4 did a dedicated server and overall it went pretty good. After playing I crashed for some sleep and got back up and was ready for an experiment that I have been dying to know..how much of a difference does dual core make in Quake 4?? Anyone who really knows me knows that when I can't have everything decked out in a game it just bothers the shit out of me and not able to click dual core in the options screen was doing just that until today that is..

Last week I bashed on consoles well this week I am going to bash PC gaming! I started the single player in Q-4 and found out that anyone who buys a new computer is just basically f*^%ed! On this Dell I couldn't even play the game 1280x1024 in Medium quality without this thing gasping for air. I will be the first to say that I am spoiled with my Alienware and have lost sight what people are really playing these games on! Now I have seen first hand why people are excited about consoles because they are cheaper to start with and easier to setup. When my friend JZ let me borrow his 360 Quake 4 was more playable on that than this Dell! How about dual core you ask??

I finally was able to click yes to that option.. YEEHHAAWWW
and found no difference:(
my thought is.. just go buy the Ageia physx card cause at least you will get Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter for free:) ROFL
My experience with Dell was good and the system had no issues except it was missing the Alien head on the tower! Medusa is happy now and I sat to watch her play her Dell for the first time and watched her play her favorite game Bejeweled 2. She started playing it and flipped out when the game warped to the next level and said " I never seen that before" and she got a big smile on her face since she has a graphic card that lets the portal effect happen now instead of just going to the next level. Then in classic Lord Natas style I replied "You just remember this feeling when I come to you and say I have to run Quad SLI on a game to get the full effect!!"

Review: Advent Rising

Hello fellow gamers,
I picked up this game for twenty bucks and started knocking it out and I was really enjoying the game.. I started telling DeathofU and my wife how it was just what I needed to get my Sci-Fi fix! I had to go to work so all I was thinking about was to get this "gem" finished. I got home and the game just went to total crap the last 2 chapters of the game. I was really disappointed, and can't believe they shipped it out like that? No wonder Majesco is back publishing smaller games instead of "AAA" titles that can't even make a grade of C. I am a sucker for Sci-fi "B" movies but never did I thought that B meant BROKEN!!!

Pros
1. I liked the weapons and how they shot out the ammo
2. Having "Force" powers gave me a fix until the Sith rise again!
3. I liked the color scheme of the game
4. The creatures were nice looking
5. The first 4 chapters was a blast to play
6. Running over enemies with the "Warthog" brought back my Halo days

Cons
1. Really needed to have Quick save
2. Just like Halo, some of the areas look so much alike it was hard to tell if you been there or not
3. The last 2 chapters are a broken P.O.S. that just gave me a bad taste
4. Q.A. did not do their job very well and there is no way someone who cares about what they do could look themselves in the mirror shipping this game out like this.. I know I couldn't sleep at night knowing I left the 2 last chapters a broken mess!
5. I have never seen so many cutscenes in my life..
6. Sometimes the humor is misplaced in this game when it should be serious
7. I really thought I wasn't going to be able to finish the game since a bug in the game wouldn't let me jump 2 feet in the air to climb a cliff. Nothing like seeing your allies jump 20 feet in the air and waiting for ya:(
8. The only reason I finished this game was to see how it ended and if I knew it was going to end like it did I wouldn't of bothered!!


wait until it is 10 dollars and play the first 4 chapters

Review: Dark Messiah Might and Magic Demo

Hello fellow gamers,
This demo has taken me down a journey that I never thought could possibly happen this close to a games release. After downloading this "demo" that is roughly 1.4 gig I installed it just so I can see an error! I downloaded the demo again from a different place just to make sure there was nothing corrupt and yep you guessed it I still got an error!!

I was able to find the culprit that is causing this error and to fix it deals with the following procedures.. right click on the shortcut, go under compatibility tab, then click on disable visual themes. Click apply, then ok, done! Game runs without a hitch now. This will happen to a lot of people who are using AMD 64 bit processors. Since AMD has been the king for awhile now you think that they would've had this fixed already doncha think??? Now on with the review...

Pros
1. Graphics and Source engine looks very nice
2. Cutting off an Orcs head is always fun
3. The hud display is nice and easy to navigate through
4. I got it to run:)


Cons
1. When you have to tweak a demo just to run the latest Cpu's you know you got problems!
2. I would love to just squash the ssssttttuuutttteerrrinnnnggg audio bug in the source engine. Why is this thing not fixed already??????? wtf???? I have been through 2 audio cards and this ffff@@@@@king thing is still herrrreee!
3. If you thought that Quake 4 A.I. was bad the strogg are Rocket scientists compared to what you will see in this game. I had an orc turn his back to me in a middle of a fight which I just slapped him silly!
4. I got to fight the Cyclops and I was bored
5. I put 70 hours into Elders Scroll Oblivion but I would be lucky to put in 70 minutes with this one.
6. Anyone who says this game is better than Oblivion needs to go for a blood test because I would have to question your intelligence so much that you could be a father to these orcs in the game:)
7. I would advise UbiSoft to hold off on bringing this out in October because if they do it is destined for the bargain bin. Save your money people!!!

How you like the pink

Europe getting a pink PS2 and PSP. Wow that will match their barbie tv? If sony is trying to attract women gamers they do not have to look far. Watch what nintendo is doing. They could learn alot about getting a wider player group including ladies. My wife says Sodoku on DS beats the PSP hands down and she says it is better than playing on paper. I feel WII will be targeting the ladies too.

So this is what next gen consoles look like eh??? Count me out!!!

Our website that we created means that we enjoy playing anything and everything and normally that is the case but today I am gonna rip "next gen consoles" a new ass!! First off, here is my list of shit I am sick of..
1. Who is gonna win the console wars? (the gamers dumbass)
2. PS3 is too expensive! (don't buy it cheap ass)
3. PS3 is hard to develop for! (don't make games for it dumbass)
4. When is the XBOX 360 going to cut prices?(Halo 3 isn't out yet dumbass)

But here is the REAL reason for this article, consoles will never compete against the power of the PC. Here is a perfect example how you "console gamers" get the shaft! Look at these pictures of F.E.A.R. running on the PS3!! Thanks goes out to CVG for the pictures!!



F.E.A.R. looks like total shit and I wouldn't pay for the "Blue Ray" DVD! I would invite everyone over to see F.E.A.R. running on my PC but then NONE of you would leave:) I wouldn't care if all of you stayed just as long as I can use you as dependents on my taxes!! ROFL

Retro Review: TRON 2.0

Hello fellow Jets',
I decided to download the demo and decided that I really wanted to give this game a shot so I went to CompUsa to pick it up. My wife and I went in and normally it is a twenty dollar game but it was marked down as a "manager special" and was only five dollars!! I can not believe how gorgeous the graphics are in this game. It is just stunning how they created a cyber world with the glowing colors etc. It took me a little while to get used to the light cycles but by the end of the game I was just rocking on it! This game makes me want to watch the movie again since it has been forever since I have seen it. I remember when Nvidia was showcasing this game for their graphic cards and the guy who created the movie wish that he had the technology that was implemented in this game! This game is just plain awesome.. pick it up.... or I will throw my cluster up you ass:)

Pros
1. Graphics are just incredible
2. Soundtrack is really cool
3. Production in this game is just awesome ( Monolith knows how to make a game)
4. Story moves along very well
5. Thorne is one cool enemy
6. Seekers are really cool looking
7. This game is long and is worth the money! (even @ $20)
8. Jet and I both agree that Mercury would be an awesome screensaver
9. This is the first time that my name has ever been in a video game

Cons
1. I wish they had a tutorial in the game or better descriptions of weapons
2. Quick save would've been nice in the light cycles
3. Don't try doing the light cycles when under the influence of alcohol.. it makes it a lot tougher:)

Lag.. is it really the server???

Hello fellow laggers,
when I get bored I start trying just about anything to get better frames, lower ping times, etc. Well, I found something today that I have to admit really impresses me. I downloaded this program called Lagmeter which you can get @ http://www.endlagnow.org/ELN/TakeAction_LagMeter.aspx and it combines with fraps to figure out if your lag is from the Network, Server, or Client. Since it uses fraps it shows your frames per second on your screen which I found very informative.

I decided to try out this program in a Quake 4 server and I found out my average frames is around 56 fps. When I hit some "lag" the frames dropped to 30-32 frames which seemed to me like I was barely moving but in the game Halo on Xbox was all the frames you got through that whole game:) I am really looking forward to the reviews of this network card and the lagmeter program is by far a really useful tool to help aid in what everyone hates... LAG!!!

Just read an article that the makers of the game Too Human is going to stop using the Unreal 3 Engine for their Xbox 360 game because it is very hard to develop for the Xbox 360?! This news has really put a damper on the release of Gears of War for me because I wonder if it is going to be choppy etc?? Why they just don't release this the same time on PC is beyond me! Mark Rein from Epic games typed in the G.O.W. forums that a big announcement was coming soon. I posted the following...
"Mark, I hope the big news is that you are going to release it on the PC the same time as the XBOX 360 since you and I both know that the 360 is nothing more than a calculator compared to us hardcore PC boys:)"

I really still can't believe that people are not going crazy for MultiPrey but here are the facts straight from Human Head....


Things around here have been busy, but not nearly as busy as when we finished Prey. What have we been up to this past month?

Well, we've still been settling into our new offices; preparing the Prey patch and additional content; we had a fantastic Prey release party; many people have been taking vacations and sabbaticals (after you've been with Human Head for six years, you're granted an extra month off vacation. A lot of people are exercising that vacation now that Prey is done); and we're preparing for future projects (training, rethinking the design process, etc).
Prey Release Party

On July 20th, we threw a rockin' Prey release party in downtown Madison at the historic Orpheum Theater. More than two hundred of our closest friends and business associates attended, socialized, drank a lot and generally had a great time. There was an eight-player Xbox360 set-up for people to play deathmatch that was constantly busy throughout the night. Music was provided by Kid Beyond who was amazing! The things that guy can do with his voice were simply insane.

Overall, it was a damn fun night. Huge thanks for the group here who set the whole thing up, and a huge thanks to everyone who attended and helped us celebrate this monumental occasion.

Big thanks to Scott and George for attending as well. Although George's camera should be banned from all future parties where there's booze involved! :) We'll try and get some pictures online if we can pry them from George's hands. :)
Prey v1.1 Patch

We're currently working on a 1.1 patch for Prey to fix several bugs and a couple of additions. Here is the (not final) list of changes:

* Fixed a crash at startup on some machines
* Fixed an occasional crash on the dedicated server
* Fixed a crash when using image_usecache cvar with very big textures. Textures whose lowest mip map doesn't fit will be default texture.
* This was causing a crash when a modified prey was loading "Mother's Embrace".
* Fixed a crash on some machines when reading savegames.
* Some timedemo features not appearing if you restart between record/playback
* Added widescreen resolutions to menus
* Updated multiplayer browser to fix servers not showing up due to DNS resolution
* Updated multiplayer browser not keeping join button up to date when server summary wasn't the active tab.
* Updated multiplayer browser so punkbuster icons show up in their column properly
* Updated multiplayer browser so mod games' icons show up properly
* Updated multiplayer browser so server scanning is more consistent on slower connections
* Fixed multiplayer weapon exploit

Venom is working on a 360 patch for Prey which will address the network lag issues on the 360 as well as fix several bugs there as well.

No ETA yet on the release of either of these patches, other than we hope to have them resolved and out very, very soon.
New Content for Prey

There's also new content for Prey coming soon -- still in the process of finalizing the new maps. We've read online that some people have requested maps that function well as 1v1 maps. So, we've taken that to heart and have been working on four maps that work better with a smaller number of people 2-4 players. Of course, you can still play with more than four in the maps, but they can get pretty insane.

Also, we're adding in six new player characters:

- Four female characters: Jen, Elhuit, Mother, and Becky (the blond victim you see occasionally on slabs in the single player Prey)
- Two Hunter characters: Hunter and Elite Hunter

Similar to the 1.1 patch, no ETA on the release on this, other than soon. We're still working on finishing the maps and play balancing them. We'll announce the release date for this, once we're closer to final. Watch 3DR's page, or Prey.com for that info.

Yes, this additional content will be released on the 360 as well. Further details about possible points cost of the extra content for the 360 has yet to be determined.

Call Of Juarez: Demo review

Hello fellow gamers,

This game has a lot of potential and it really is hard to judge something that won't be out until next year but since they did bring out the demo I feel that critiquing it is justified.


Pros
1. The themes of the character's are really cool (the preacher is one bad mofo)
2. Graphics are beautiful
3. The bow and arrow is awesome and it is cool how you use it!
4. The environments are really nice

Cons
1. It needs to optimized big time!
2. If I was the Supervisor of the development team I would put just one word on post it notes and put on their monitors.. "FLUIDITY"

F.E.A.R. Combat coming August 17th and it is free!!

Hello fellow siblings of Alma,
F.E.A.R. Combat will be all the multiplayer component of the retail version of the game! I think that this is a great idea to do to get people into the multiplayer aspect of the game. I am really shocked that this game didn't sell that well but I think the main reason why was because people were scared that their systems couldn't run it and they would've been out $50! QuakeCon 2006: Should it of been called QuietCon 2006??

Hello fellow gamers,
It seems to me that this years QuakeCon was really quiet to say the least. I remember last year that they had huge coverage and you could watch what was happening via streamloads but this was not the case this year. Enemy Territory Quake Wars looks like a fantastic game but I doubt I will be able to find a whole clan of people to dedicate their time in being champions. Another thing that has been said is that it was the smallest QuakeCon in years and to me that is a shame.

Backward compatibility PS3 style
Along with FULL PS2/PS1 backwards compatibility on the PS3 (something XBox 360 severly lacks), Sony is going to offer adapters (for a price) to convert your PS2/PS1 memory cards to a PS3 format. It appears these adapters are one time use kind of things as the files must be copied to the PS3 hard drive.

Not content with just ripping you off with their high hardware prices, Circuit City is now robbing you via a DVD transfer service. For $10, you can get one of your precious DVD movies—that you "own"—ripped into iPod format. For $20, they'll do three, and for $30 they'll do five.

This service is all fine for grandma—who can't compute her way out of a wet paper sack—but according to the DMCA, any attempts to circumvent the encoding scheme on DVDs is a big federal, pound-me-in-the-ass no-no. That means The City is breaking DMCA several times a day, transferring customer's videos onto their iPods and other portable media devices.

Here is my list of news for the day!

1. QuakeCon starts Tomorrow:)
2. Quake 4 1.3 release rocks... thank you Ritual entertainment
3. My magazine Computer Gaming World is no longer.. it will be called "Games for Windows" now and Microsoft is going to put some of their "chump change" into the mag!
4. Kane and Lynch game is just going to be awesome.. this game is what I live for and IO interactive is making it! In case you don't know they are the brains behind one of my favorite characters of all time Agent 47 of HITMAN!!
5. UT2007 is not going to make it this year, Sh#t!!
6. Crysis is just looking awesome and dual core is gonna rock in this game.
7. Call of Juarez demo is neat and I am looking forward to the release of the game!
8. I am still shocked that hardly anyone is playing MulitPrey. Is it to intimidating for people??
9. I can't wait for the new Jedi game from Lucasarts, the video looks awesome!
